JOHN GEEVARGESE
Mr. John Geevargese - an edcucationalist and philanthropist at core, took over as Chairman of ASIA Charitable Trustin 1993 when it was running just a small primary school. Through his vision, commitment and dedicated efforts, he has transformed ASIA into a highly reputed educational institution imparting school and college level education covering a wide range of desciplines.

Today,with Mr. John' initiatives, the ASIA can boast to have a full-fledged school with Pre-Primary, Primary, Secondary and Higher Secondary sections having an aggragate capacity of 3200 students.

It was at the initiative and behest of Mr. John only that JG Group fo COlleges have been set up. The first in the chain was the JG College of Commerce in 1999. It quickly followed with colleges in other disciplines like Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA), Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) etc.

The latest in the series is JG College of Nursing inaugurated recently on 9th August, 2003. College for degrees in Law and Business Administration are also to be launched in immediate future.

Like ASIA, Mr. John's other obsession is yet another socio-culture organization viz. YMCA, Ahmedabad which he heads as President since 1989. Through his zeal adn persistent efforts, he has transformed it into one of the largest YMCA outfits in India.It has acquired the reputation of being one of the most vibrant socio-cultural center in Ahmedabad promoting communal harmony.

Apart from all this, Mr. John is a reputed Businessman. He is the Promoter-owner of 'Sales India' one of the largest chain of Consumer Durables and Home Appliances in India. Strating with a single 'Sales India' showroom at Ahmedabad, it has now grown into a state-wide network of franchisee outlests at Anand,Vadodara, Bhuj and Jamnagar cities of Gujarat. Several other cities in Gujarat too, will also have similar outlets.

It is creditable that Mr. John spares adequate time, energy and resources for his educational and philanthropic pursuits out of his heavy business occupation. In doing so, his only aim is to give something in return to the society which has endowed him with all success.

Born on 21-09-1937 at Kollam in Kerala in a buiness family, he has adopted Ahmedabad in Gujarat as his home and workplace since 1960.
