FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMMES :
1) Teachers
visited the psychology laboratory
of Smt. L and C Mehta Arts College, GLS Campus on Tuesday
22nd June, 2010.
Navinbhai Patel, a
professor of psychology explained in detail how to perform
experiments, how to note down the observations and how to
analyse the recorded observations.
2) A lecture
of Dr. Satish Shukla on instructional
objectives was organized on 6th July, 2010.
3) A group
discussion on instructional objectives of language
teaching was organized under the guideship (Chairmanship)
of Prof. Vishnubhai Bhatt and Dr. Vinaben
Vaishnav (H.O.D. M.Ed. Gujarati Medium).

ORIENTATION PROGRAMME : On Monday 9th
August, 2010.
Students were introduced to the College,
Faculties, ASIA Charitable Trust, SNDT Women’s University
and B.Ed. curriculum.To start with the training of public
speaking students were asked to come up in the front and
to say a few lines about themselves.

DR. VIKRAM SARABHAI JANMA JAYANTI : On
Friday 13th August, 2010.
Students gave life sketch of Dr. Vikram
Sarabhai and shared information about his contribution in
the field of science and to the society. One of the
students gave information about institutions started by
him in Ahmedabad.Prof. Dr. Kumudben Panchal gave a small
talk on development of scientific attitude among students.

CELEBRATION OF INDEPENDENCE DAY: On 15th
August, 2010.
We celebrated Independence Day with JG
International School. Chairman Shree John Geevergse
hoisted the flag and delivered an inspiring speech. School
children sang patriotic songs.

TEACHER’S DAY CELEBRATION :
5th September being Sunday it
was celebrated on Monday 6th September.
§
Students took the
charge of their teachers and taught respective subjects.
§
A formal function was
organized by students. It was a surprise for teachers. In
the function students greeted teachers with bouquets of
flowers and cards.
§
They narrated a couple
of poems on teachers and talked about Dr. Sarva Palli
Radha Krishnan.
§
Class room was
decorated by balloons, ribbons and rangoli.
§
Students had organized
one minute games for teachers.
§
Prof. Parveenbanu
Malek won memory game.
§
Prof. Dr. Kumudben
Panchal won cold drink drinking competition.
§
Students even gave
away prizes to the winners and organized snacks, which
teachers and students enjoyed together.

HINDI DIVAS CELEBRATION: On 14th
September, 2010.
Importance of Hindi Divas was explained by
a student and Prof. Raginiben Mehta gave information in
detail on Hindi as National Language and celebration of
Hindi Divas.

UNIVERSITY REGIONAL YOUTH FESTIVAL :
It was organized at Shri. I. S.Desai Mahila
Arts College, Becharaji on 13th and 14th
September, 2010.
§
We participated only
in two events, Light Vocal Solo (Indian) and Folk Dance.
Our student Ms. Vimla Raval won third prize in Light Vocal
Solo.
§
She also won 3rd
prize in Talent hunt programme organized by JG Group of
Colleges.

GANESH CHATURTHI
CELEBRATION :
Prof. Raginiben Mehta gave very nice
information on history of Ganesh Chaturthi Celebration and
mythological stories on it.

GANDHI JAYANTI CELEBRATION: On 1st
October, 2010.
§
His photographs and
charts were displayed on bulletin board.
§
Programme
was started with Gandhiji’s favourite Bhajan “Vaishnavjan
to tene re Kahiye”.
§
A roll play was
performed on “Dandi Kutch” by students.
§
Students narrated his
life sketch and his ideology.

PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT WEEK: From 20th
September to 25th September, 2010.
As usual personality development week was
organized for the all-round development of the students.
The college had invited renowned personalities to address
the students.
§
Mr. R. K. Chopra, the
well experienced speaker was the first to inspire us all
with his vigor and enthusiasm at the age of 74 years.
‘Nothing is impossible in the world’ was the subject. He
advised to live in present.
§
Mr. Firdosh Kapadia’s
topic ‘Goal setting’ was very interesting and important as
well. He advised to develop innovative teaching to build
good relationships. See big dreams and transform them to
reality. Dedication Determination and Discipline are
important things for development of personality. Think ‘I
can, I will and I conquer’.
§
On third day Dr.
Bhalchandra Joshi came with the topic ‘Teachers and
overall development.’ ‘Learning through doing’ will make
your class room teaching interesting effective and lively.
Abilities are of no use with out confidence, awareness,
patience and motivating nature.
§
4th day Dr.
Atul Mehta came with the topic ‘Sharpen your axe’ – He
tried to explain the value of the perseverance-hard work
to achieve success in life. His examples were interesting
and effective.
§
On the 5th
day our beloved director Mr. Saurabh Choksi addressed us
on ‘Public Speaking’. The skill of speaking in public is
very essential for teachers. He advised to grab
opportunities. Leave your ego, Make your self presentable
§
On the 6th
day Dr. Pramodbhai Parikh was invited. He gave a very nice
speech on ‘Human Relationships. Give importance to your
relations. Life is enjoyable – enjoy it. Please, sorry and
thank you are the keys to maintain good relations so keep
them always with you ‘Forget and forgive’ will sweeten
your relations with others.
Follow the nature of ‘water’
not of a stone.
Remember ‘your work’ is noted not ‘your
name’.

Two students
participated in a debate competition organized at
“Blind Men’s Association” Ahmedabad. The topic was
“Can a blind man be a good teacher”.

ACADEMIC WORK :
§
Micro lessons,
integration lessons, simulation lessons and practice
teaching lessons in schools are completed according to the
schedule.
§
Tutorial work is a
part of internal assessment. Topics for tutorial work are
displayed on the notice board. Students will submit their
work after Diwali Vacation.
§
Method exams are
planned on 24th and 25th November.
Syllabus and time table for the examination are put on the
notice board.

On 9th
October, 2010 the Inter College Garba Competition
was held at ASIA Campus. We enjoyed the
show. The students participated and made a good show.

JG
Group of Colleges arranged Garba programme at JG Campus on
Dashera. There was pooja – arati in the beginning. All the
students participated with enthusiasm. They looked very
attractive and glamorous in traditional dresses. The
atmosphere was pleasant, pious sand colorful. The student
danced freely with their friends.

On 23rd October, 2010. JG Group
of Colleges celebrated Convocation Programme.
The students were invited to attend the
programme. The faculties and the students were given scarf
and a cap. March past was held. The inspiring speeches
were made by the chief guest and the guest of honors. The
first three rankers of the batch 2009-2010 were awarded
with trophies and certificates were given to all pass out
students.

The Republic Day Celebration was held in JG
Campus.
The Flag was hoisted by Mr. John Geevargese,
the chairman of ASIA Charitable Trust. There were other
programmes like one-act play on national theme. The
patriotic songs were sung. The speeches were made by the
students and the guests. It was a joint programme of JG
international School and JG Group of Colleges.

On 30th
October, 2010 before Diwali Vacation
we got together for the exchange of greetings and well
wishes for Diwali. The students decorated the class well.
They made a very nice Rangoli. There were speeches, Snacks
and Soft drink before departure.

After Diwali Vacation
Terminal Examinations were held.
The students were well prepared for the examination.
v
There was A Social
Visit at Vikas Gruh. The
students tried to know about this famous institution
helping women of all age group. They knew about the
different sections, the education given to the girls at
different level. They met the girls living there and knew
about their routine life. They took some photographs.
v
Memorable Christmas Celebration was held on
31st December, 2010.
Students presented good audio-video
programme on the life of Jesus. The girls presented one
act play on Jesus’ birth. It was very informative and
attractive.

We had a very nice Educational Tour at ‘Bet
Dwarika’ on 8th January, 2011.
We observed different types
of fishs, turtles, shells of different colors, shapes and
sizes, corals, crabs, birds, variety of algae etc. in
their natural environment. We visited the temple of Lord
Krishna and enjoyed camp life. We enjoyed boating, played
with sea waves and cool sands on the shore. It was our
memorable trip indeed.

The kite flying
celebration was jointly
organized by JG Group of Colleges and Gujarat University
on 13th January, 2011. The sky was full of
colorful kites of different shapes and size. There was joy
every where.

Annual Sports Day
of JG Group of Colleges was organized on 22nd
January, 2011 at the University
Ground. The students and the lecturers participated in
different athletic events. Prof. Parveenbanu Malek won the
first prize in shot put. After lunch we departed.

The girls visited
the Educational Exhibition at Tripada School.
It was really grand and inspiring. There
were many sections giving different information about
vivid subjects.

JG
Group of Collages celebrated their Annual Day on 5th
February, 2011.
The student of the year Award was given to
the best student of each college. The audience welcomed
the winners with big applause. The chief guest was Mr.
Ashoka Dave, the famous humorist. Ms. Rupal Shah, Ms.
Sukanya Ghosh and Ms. Vimla Raval were nominated and the
award went to Ms. Vimla Raval.

We had an
Internship Programme of two weeks.
The students were guided well about the
work they had to do in the suggested schools. We selected
the best school where they can learn different
responsibilities and duties of a teacher. The programme
was successful. The students enjoyed their work and
completed it very sincerely. |
